Bach's first cantata year in monthly concerts

As far as we know today, Bach performed almost 60 cantatas in his first year in Leipzig. All works are performed in monthly concerts by internationally renowned ensembles with renowned soloists. Personalities from politics, science and society complement the concerts with short lectures on the subject matter of the works.

Accompanying lecture series
Before each concert, you will learn more about the works performed from Bach’s masterful first cantata year as well as the exact circumstances of Bach’s work in Leipzig: scholars from the Bach Archive Leipzig will provide an insight into the current state of research and get you in the mood for the concert. On each concert day at 6 pm in the historic Summer Hall of the Bach Museum.
