Bach300 Summer Class

In the festive year “Bach300 – 300 Years of Bach in Leipzig”, the Bach Archive Leipzig has invited the Baden-Württemberg Ensemble Academy from Freiburg and the Belgian vocal ensemble Vox Luminis to stage a one-off Bach300 Summer Class from 7 to 16 August in Leipzig.

The three internationally renowned and specialised ensembles, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Ensemble Recherche and Vox Luminis, aim to combine the ensembles’ focus on older and more recent music and to bring this experience to bear in the preparation and performance of three Bach cantatas (BWV 46, 105, 179) as well as baroque to contemporary chamber music. The course focus of Vox Luminis is exclusively on the vocal music of J. S. Bach and excerpts from the Florilegium Portense.

A prerequisite for lessons with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra is experience in making music on a historical instrument (415 Hz concert pitch). You must bring your own instrument of historical construction (harpsichords and organs will be provided). Singers must have experience in singing Bach’s vocal music, both as soloists and in an ensemble.

The participation fee is 500 €. Registration and further information can be found here.
